A Walk in Eynsford: Discovering the Best-Kept Secrets of an English Village
Guys, you won't believe what happened to me last weekend! I decided to go for a hike around Eynsford, a little village in Kent that, to be honest, I didn't expect to surprise me so much. Ready for me to tell you all about it?
Turns out Eynsford is like something out of a fairy tale. It has a medieval bridge that's still in use, and when you cross the River Darent by the ford, you feel like you're traveling back in time. But that's not all.
I stumbled upon the ruins of Eynsford Castle, a place dating back to the 11th century. They say it's haunted, and some locals tell stories of apparitions and strange lights on moonless nights. You can imagine how it gave me goosebumps!
But wait, there's more. Nearby is Lullingstone Roman Villa, a Roman villa with impressive mosaics and even an early Christian chapel. It's amazing to think we're walking over pure history.
And for the botany lovers, the Lullingstone Castle has a World Garden with plants from all over the globe, thanks to the adventures of Tom Hart Dyke, who was kidnapped in Colombia while searching for orchids. What a story!
So, if you're looking for a getaway that combines nature, history, and a touch of mystery, I recommend you check out Eynsford. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring a camera, because you're going to want to capture every corner.
