Trail Difficulty
Beginners
Great hikes for everyone, even if you don’t have previous hiking experience. You only need to be in good general health and have a reasonable fitness level to walk the distance specified for the event. These hikes are low-level, with easy and well-maintained paths (though they can be muddy). The terrain is generally simple, and you may occasionally face a short uphill or downhill depending on the location.
Intermediate
Good health and fitness are needed for these hikes. Paths are usually in good condition but can include some rocky terrain and sections off the marked trail, as well as steeper gradients. You will experience more uphill and downhill sections compared to the beginner level, and reach moderate altitudes, but not extreme heights. Hiking footwear is required, and some experience is recommended.
Challenging
Perfect if you're fit and want to push yourself a bit more. Previous hiking experience is a plus, but not necessary if you are confident in your above-average fitness. Expect difficult terrains like rocky paths that can last longer periods. Ascents and descents are generally tougher, reaching altitudes between 600m to 800m. These hikes are usually at a faster pace and cover longer distances in tougher conditions. Sturdy footwear and good hiking socks are essential.
Mountain Level
High fitness and stamina are required for these more intense mountain hikes. Expect long and often steep ascents and descents. Participants should have previous mountain hiking experience and good fitness levels. Higher altitudes, up to 1200m, are often reached, and there may be light scrambling over ridges. In some cases, there may not be clear tracks or footpaths, and the terrain can be rocky, requiring proper boots.
Technical Level
These are for experienced hikers with additional technical skills, stamina, and endurance. The routes often include mixed and uneven terrain with ridges and scrambling. Snow, ice, or rock may be encountered, and altitudes can go above 800m for extended periods, with demanding ascents and descents, sometimes over loose ground.
